Two men charged with leaving Middletown mother of 9 after fatal overdose
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKRC) - Middletown Police have signed warrants for the arrests of two men believed to have been with a mother of nine when she overdosed, and left. Jim Boyer, 63, and Keith Boyer, 32, face charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, nine counts of child endangering and petty theft when they are arrested. Police took them into custody Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the home of Jamita Sanders, her husband and children Wednesday evening. She had died from a heroin overdose with her children in the home. Their ages range from 14-years-old to just one.
Investigators believe the Boyers were in the home with her, stole her money and told the children they were leaving to buy soda.
Andre Sanders said his wife Jamita struggled with addiction for five years after she was prescribed opiates for a back injury. She had been doing better but relapsed Wednesday night. Andre works but struggles to make ends meet.
Police were so moved by the family's loss of Jamita right before Christmas, they put out the word for donations. They asked for clothes, toys, appliances and Christmas ornaments and the response was staggering.
