Pa. man accused of using shock collars to abuse kids
LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKRC) - A Pennsylvania dad faces charges from allegations that he beat and abused his children for years.
Joseph Myhre is accused of punching, kicking, choking, bruising and even using an electric shock collar.
His children, ages 13 and 11, were allegedly forced to sleep in wooden boxes with holes drilled into the side.
Myhre is in jail on $1 million bond and faces 12 counts of aggravated assault of a child less than 13 years old.
His 13-year-old son told police that his father hit him in the head with a wooden stick many times.
Police believe Myhre would abuse his kids when they failed to properly do their chores.
Police also said he would strangle his 11-year-old daughter and bang her head on the floor to the point that she would lose consciousness.
The abuse allegations came to light after Myrhe's wife landed in the hospital with a broken skull.
Myrhe also faces charges tied to his wife's injuries.
