Police: Missing person from 1984 likely found in submerged car

BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Buena Vista Township police are closer to identifying human remains found inside a submerged car discovered in a pond.

After examinations of the remains and evidence found at the scene, police say there is a ‘high probability’ the remains belong to Julius Colwye of Buena Vista Township.

Colwye was 61 years old when he was reported missing on October 1, 1984.

According to a missing person poster published at the time, he was last seen driving his brown and tan Buick Electra in the 2000 block of Lapeer Avenue.

Police say while a cause of death has not been determined, they are treating it as ‘suspicious’.

The investigation is ongoing.
