A Kennewick, Washington teenager is accused of raping a 5-year-old girl at his parents' daycare.

Court records say 16-year-old Logan Thomas Santjer was at his parents' in-home daycare when he led the girl into a playroom and raped her.

Santjer, who has been charged as an adult, appeared in court Thursday.

The girl's parents said she told them what happened, and when detectives went to interview Santjer and his parents, they learned the daycare's rooms were recorded on video, according to court documents. By the time they got the recording of the playroom from a search warrant, detectives said the video stops right after it shows Santjer leading the girl inside.

Detectives believe that portion of the video may have been deleted.

Court documents say the rape reportedly happened at Angie's Daycare.

"It was a very difficult, difficult case,” Detective Sgt. Ryan Kelly said. “Any time a child is victimized, it's difficult, but especially when they're in a place where trust is involved."

Santjer is being allowed to continue attending school as long as he is supervised.

He's scheduled back in court for a pre-trial hearing on March 22.
