Wisconsin high school requires students to submit dress pics before homecoming dance
WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (WKRC) - A school district in suburban Milwaukee is screening female students' attire ahead of next month's homecoming dance at Pewaukee High School.
According to a report by the Journal Sentinel, families received an email reminder that all "dress-wearing" students and guests must submit photos of their outfits before they can buy tickets to the dance.
The policy, in place since January 2015, has been a controversial one among students, parents and others.
"The girls are essentially being held responsible for the wayward thoughts (administrators) think boys have. They're being told, 'You are the problem,'" Rebecca Sheperd, the mother of a freshman girl, told the Journal Sentinel. "These are the roots of rape culture, frankly."
