NJ mom wins $5 million from lottery ticket she did not mean to buy
EDGEWATER, N.J. (WKRC) - As the saying goes, "You make your own luck."
When Oksana Zaharov decided to buy a more expensive lottery ticket after a clerk handed her the wrong one, she had no idea how it would change her life.
According to WPIX, Zaharov asked a clerk in Manhattan for a $1 scratch-off lottery ticket but was handed a $10 Set For Life ticket instead. The 46-year-old decided to pony up the extra cash because she felt bad for the clerk's mistake.
The New Jersey mother of two used the ticket as a bookmark and didn't know until she scratched it weeks later that she’d won $5 million.
Zaharov told WPIX that she plans to take a family vacation to the Bahamas and put money toward her children’s college education.
