Bengals Free Agency Tracker: Top 5 FA LB to visit after team loses two, signs one

Running back Rex Burkhead was an unrestricted free agent who signed on Tuesday with the New England Patriots (WKRC/Tony Tribble).

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Unrestricted free agent linebacker Kevin Minter is scheduled to visit the Bengals on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a day after the team lost two more players. Plus, an offensive lineman may be returning to Cincinnati.

Minter played the last four seasons for the Arizona Cardinals, starting 37 of 61 games he played in that span after being selected in the second round of the 2013 Draft out of LSU. He started all 32 games over the last two seasons at inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. The Bengals play a 4-3 scheme and are in the market for a middle linebacker to supplant veteran Rey Maualuga, who was unproductive this past season and saw his playing time decrease significantly.

Minter visited the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday. According to the analytics-based ProFootballFocus.com, Minter is the fifth-highest rated unrestricted free agent linebacker.

The team also had a visit from New York Giants unrestricted free agent middle linebacker Keenan Robinson on Monday. He is one of the lowest-rated unrestricted free agent linebackers, according to PFF.com.

The Bengals lost two more of their own unrestricted free agents on Tuesday: defensive lineman Margus Hunt and running back Rex Burkhead. The team wasn't expected to re-sign either - Hunt due to lack of productivity in his four seasons with the team and Burkhead because there are two players ahead of him on the roster (Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard).

The team is expected to sign unrestricted free agent offensive lineman Andre Smith, who played for the Bengals from 2009-15 before leaving as a free agent following the 2015 season and signing with the Minnesota Vikings. Injuries limited him to just four starts - all at right tackle, which he played almost exclusively while a member of the Bengals. He is expected to compete to start at that position and might even be tried at guard.
