CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Bengals signed HB Brian Hill from the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad. To make room for Hill, the team waived LB Hardy Nickerson. Also, the Bengals signed CB Sojourn Shelton to the practice squad.

Hill (6-1, 219), a rookie out of the University of Wyoming, was the second of three Falcons fifth-round selections in this year’s NFL Draft. He made Atlanta’s 53-player roster to start the season and played on special teams in one game (Week 4, no statistics). The Falcons waived him on Oct. 14 and signed him to their practice squad on Oct. 17.

At Wyoming, Hill played three seasons and set school career records for rushing yards (4287; no Cowboys player had even topped 3000 rushing yards prior to Hill) and rushing TDs (35). As a junior, he also set school single-season records for rushing yards (1860), rushing TDs (22) and total TDs (22).

Nickerson played in seven Bengals games this season and recorded two tackles (both assists) on special teams. He also spent two games on the team’s practice squad in Weeks 4 and 5.

This is the second stint on the Bengals practice squad this season for Shelton, a rookie out of the University of Wisconsin. He had been signed to the practice squad on Sept. 4 and released from the practice squad on Oct. 27.

The Bengals still have one practice squad spot open.
