Miami basketball signs junior college guard
OXFORD (WKRC) – Miami University men’s basketball coach Jack Owens announced the signing of Darrian Ringo to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Ringo transfers in from Midland College and he will be a junior beginning with the 2017-18 season.
Ringo, a 6-2 point guard from Brownsburg, Ind, spent the past two seasons at junior college, playing both at Eastern Arizona and Midland College. With Eastern Arizona, he averaged 13.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and 7.1 assists per contest. He had at least six assists in 26 games that season.
Ringo was a 2015 graduate of Brownsburg High School. As a senior, he was named to the High Honorable Mention portion of the Associated Press’ All-State Teams.
“Darrian is going to come in with experience and be able to help lead the program,” Owens said in a statement. “He will be able to apply pressure on defense and get others involved on offense. He has improved his jump shot over the last two years and will be able to contribute immediately.”
Ringo joins Jalen Adaway (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Isaiah Coleman-Lands (Indianapolis, Ind./La Lumiere School) as part of Owens’ first recruiting class.
