Oct. 7 area college football previews: Game times, TV, story/video links, predictions

Area college football previews for UC, Ohio State, Kentucky, Miami, Thomas More, Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati Christian and Wilmington for Oct. 7 (WKRC).

CINCINNATI (WKRC/AP) - Here is a look at Saturday, Oct. 7 area college football games:

No. 25 UCF (4-0, 1-0 AAC) at UC (2-3, 0-1 AAC)

  • WHEN/WHERE: 8 p.m. in Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati.
  • TV/RADIO: ESPNU; WLW-AM (700).
  • OPENING LINE: UCF by 14.
  • SERIES RECORD: Tied 1-1, with UC leading 1-0 in Cincinnati, but UCF won last season in Orlando, Fla., 24-3.
  • SKINNY'S PICK: UCF 41, UC 20. The Bearcats can't play much worse than they did against Marshall so expect a better performance, but UCF may just be the second-best team in the American Athletic Conference behind USF. The Knights won all four games by at least 27 points, including 38-10 over Maryland and 40-13 over Memphis, which has a win over UCLA. The Knights are averaging 44.8 points per game and their average margin of victory is 30.3 points per game. UC is simply no match, but could make it interesting for a bit.

MARYLAND (3-1, 1-0 B10) at No. 10 OHIO ST. (4-1, 2-0)

  • WHEN/WHERE: 4 p.m. in Ohio Stadium, Columbus.
  • TV/RADIO: FOX; WDJO-AM (1480), WRBI-FM (103.9).
  • OPENING LINE: Ohio State by 30.
  • SERIES RECORD: Ohio State leads 3-0 and won last season in College Park, Md, 62-3.
  • SKINNY'S PICK: Ohio State 34, Maryland 17. Maryland has been dealing with injuries at the quarterback position, but is coming off a 31-24 win at Minnesota. The Terps also won at Texas, and their lone loss was to UCF, 38-10. The Buckeyes should win comfortably, but the spread just seems way too much to cover.

After an opening 72-43 win over FCS Missouri State, the Tigers lost their last three games (to South Carolina, Purdue and Auburn) by a combined score of 117-30, and all those games were at home. This is Missouri's first road game of the season.
