Local 12 hires longtime ESPN sportscaster Gary Miller
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – With experience that includes sports anchoring and reporting for cable networks ESPN and CNN, sportscaster Gary Miller is joining Local 12.
It is probably fair to say if you know sports, you know Miller’s work. His most recent anchor duties were with KCAL and KCBS in Los Angeles. During his time in L.A. he also served as host of the L.A. Dodgers’ pre-game show.
Prior to his prominent role in the Los Angeles television and radio market, Miller anchored ESPN’s Emmy Award-winning SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight broadcasts for over a decade. That experience had him handling everything from live reporting and packaging, to postseason, spring training and All-Star game coverage. Also while at ESPN, Miller handled play-by-play for Major League Baseball (MLB), feature and sideline reporting on Sunday and Monday Night Baseball. Additionally, his work included a weekly column for ESPN.com as well as play-by-play reporting for MLB, College, and Little League World Series. He also hosted live, hour-long "Road Shows" at Super Bowls and Final Fours.
“Cincinnati is a big sports town,” said Jon Lawhead, Sinclair Group Manager. “With our multi-station, multi-platform commitment to everything from high school sports, Reds, Bengals and FC Cincinnati, we think our viewers and users will agree that Gary’s experience is a great addition to the team.”
His start date is set for mid-August.
