WATCH: Atlanta Braves fan face-plants while trying to beat "The Freeze"
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - One of the Atlanta Braves between-innings promotions has a fan being selected to try to beat "The Freeze," who is the team's unofficial mascot dressed in a turquoise, superhero body suit, in a foot race along the warning track of SunTrust Park.
The fan is given a fairly lengthy head start and on Friday night one fan thought he had beaten "The Freeze," only to find himself face-planting just steps short of the finish line.
Suffice it to say that the old quote from the late baseball legend Satchel Paige, "Don't look back, something might be gaining on you," applied there.
In case you are wondering just who "The Freeze," is, he is 26-year-old Nigel Talton of Fort Valley, Ga., and he ran track in college at Iowa Wesleyan. Talton has been a member of the Braves’ grounds crew since 2012 and the Washington Post profiled him here.
