FC Cincinnati expected to announce new stadium site
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Look for an announcement next week from FC Cincinnati about a new stadium and it will be in the city of Cincinnati.
Team President Jeff Berding confirmed to Local 12 News that an announcement is planned for next week and that announcement will include Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley.
Berding hasn’t said which site is likely to be targeted but Wednesday night the Oakley Community Council gave its blessing to a stadium being built there.
Berding believes the club will raise over $300 million of its own money all in hopes of bringing Major League Soccer to Cincinnati.
FC Cincinnati unveiled the design of the stadium they hope to build back in June. The stadium could seat between 25,000 to 30,000 fans and be soccer-specific, something required by the MLS.
FC Cincinnati is on a tight deadline. The MLS will pick a franchise to join the league by the end of the year.
