FC Cincinnati inks Garrett Halfill to amateur contract
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Xavier alumnus Garrett Halfhill has signed an amateur contract with FC Cincinnati for the remainder of the 2017 season.
Halfhill, a defender, will be eligible to play in all U.S. Open Cup and United Soccer League matches and has been part of the team’s practice squad. Halfhill played for FCC in the friendly against UC earlier this season and is expected to see the pitch tonight against AFC Cleveland.
Halfhill was a four-year letterwinner at Xavier from 2011-14, captaining the squad as a senior. The Big East All-Tournament Team selection holds the career record with 84 matches played and is tied for first in the season annals for matches played and started with 23. He had six goals in his collegiate career with three registered in 2014.
Halfhill prepped at Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, Va., where he collected all-state honorable mention honors as well as all-district and all-region accolades. He was a high school Most Valuable Player and helped his team win the 2008 Beach District Championship.
