FC Cincinnati makes two announcements regarding women's soccer
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - FC Cincinnati announced Nippert Stadium will host the U.S. Women's National Team on September 19. They'll face New Zealand in an international friendly.
It will be the first time since 2008 that the women's team will be in the Queen City. Tickets will go on sale July 21 at 10 a.m. through ussoccer.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.
FC Cincinnati will also sponsor the Cincinnati Development Academy for Girls soccer. They'll begin the first season in fall of 2017. “We are committed to growing the game of soccer beyond the men’s game” said FCC President Jeff Berding. “There are a number of talented players from the Greater Cincinnati region, including elite players such as Heather Mitts and Rose Lavelle, who have become role models for our youth. With the bar continuing to be raised by U.S. Soccer we feel strongly about not only supporting but participating in raising the bar for our youth players here in the region.”
FC Cincinnati license plates will be sold in Ohio to support the academy.
