Hometown Reds exhibit opens Friday

CINCINNATI (Perry Schaible) -- We're just days away from Opening Day and the Reds are celebrating with a brand new exhibit in the team's Hall of Fame.

104 former Cincinnati Reds are featured in a new exhibit called "Hometown Reds". It highlights players who grew up in the Queen City who went on to play for the Redlegs, including Pete Rose and Ken Griffey, Jr. The exhibit highlights players dating back to 1869, the entire history of the club.

The exhibit came about after a local author approached the staff at the Reds Hall of Fame and asked for help writing a book on the subject. "We've got a great collection. You'll see a lot of familiar faces, they may have played here for a year or two, but they made it in a Reds uniform and that's something that not everyone can say."

Personal items from players, local collectors and lenders make up "Hometown Reds". The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum is open to fans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, including game days.
