Mount Notre Dame wins the OHSAA Division I Girls Basketball State title
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - In this area during the season, Lakota West and Mason grabbed all of the attention. On Saturday night, Mount Notre Dame grabbed the title.
The Cougars dispatched Toledo Notre Dame Academy 54-44 for their first basketball state title since 2009. Despite being down 11-4 after one quarter, Mount Notre Dame didn't relent, entering halftime with a 24-20 lead. From there, the Cougars managed to keep Notre Dame Academy at bay. Mount Notre Dame at one point only led by two points, but never relinquished the lead in the second half en route to a ten point victory.
Three Mount Notre Dame girls reached double figures in points: Julia Hoefling had a team-high 18 points, Abby Voss had 15 points, and Gabbie Marshall had 12 in the win.
The state title marks Mount Notre Dame's seventh in program history.
