Top 5 remain unchanged, but shakeup in middle of Local 12 Top 12 and Ohio DIII-VII ranking

Local 12 Top 12 high school football ranking along with 12 others of note - Ohio Divisions III-VII Top 6 and Kentucky/Indiana Combined Top 6 (WKRC).

NOTE: Each week throughout the high school football regular season, Local12 and Local12.com will release the "Local12 Top 12" teams in the Tri-State as selected by the sports staff, and also 12 other teams of note - the top six Ohio teams in Divisions III-VII and top six teams in Kentucky and Indiana combined.

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The top five teams in this week's "Local12 Top12" area high school football ranking remain unchanged, but spots No. 6-10 were shaken up after last Friday's games, while there is a slight shift in the Ohio Divisions III-VII ranking after the top spot.

St. Xavier, Colerain, Elder, Covington Catholic and Winton Woods remain ranked 1-5, but La Salle's 42-7 loss to St. Xavier dropped it from No. 6 to No. 9 and Moeller's 42-14 loss to Elder dropped it from No. 8 to No. 10.

Fairfield moved up one spot to No. 6 after winning its fifth straight game since an 0-2 start, and has a Greater Miami Conference showdown this week at home with No. 2 Colerain, which has also won five straight since an 0-2 start. Both teams are 5-0 in the GMC with Colerain having allowed just 37 points in its five conference wins and Fairfield having allowed only 31 points in its five conference wins.

Two other GMC foes are ranked right behind Fairfield with Sycamore at No. 7 and Mason at No. 8. Colerain beat both Sycamore and Mason by a combined score of 76-10, while Fairfield beat Sycamore 21-7 and plays at Mason on Oct. 20.

Simon Kenton (8-0) is ranked 11th for the second straight week and Anderson (7-0) is ranked 12th for the third straight week.

In the Ohio Divisions III-VII Top 6 ranking, Wyoming is again No. 1 as it continues to roll through its season as it has won each of its seven games by at least 14 points and by an average margin of 42.2 points per game.

McNicholas fell from No. 2 to No. 5 after its 24-17 overtime loss to Greater Catholic Co-Ed Division rival Middletown Fenwick.

That led Clinton-Massie, Franklin and Goshen all moving up one spot apiece to No. 2-4 respectively. Goshen plays at Clinton-Massie on Friday. Clinton-Massie won its first seven games by an average margin of 44.4 points per game, while Goshen won its first seven games by an average 40.6 points per game.

Indian Hill is ranked No. 6 for a second straight week.

The Kentucky/Indiana Combined Top 6 remains unchanged from last week with Covington Catholic ranked No. 1 followed by Simon Kenton, Ryle, East Central, Lawrenceburg and Beechwood.
