Bats come alive as Reds beat Padres 9-4
PEORIA, Ariz. (WKRC) - The offense came in bunches for the Reds on Sunday as they beat the San Diego Padres 9-4.
Scott Schebler, Patrick Kivlehan, and Jessie Winker all hit home runs in the winning effort.
Schebler belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie before Kivlehan and Winker tacked on back-to-back homers in the eighth.
It was Schebler's second home run this spring and he now has nine RBI, which is a team high.
Reds left-hander Amir Garett had a solid start,despite allowing a two-run home run in the first inning. Garrett settled down after that and wound up scattering eight hits and three runs over five innings. His spring ERA is an impressive 2.20.
Robert Stephenson pitched the final four innings to earn the save. He allowed just one run on three hits and one walk and struck out five. His ERA is now 4.50 on the spring
The Reds (11-12) are back in action Monday at Surprise Stadium taking on the Kansas City Royals.
