Finnegan struggles, but Reds down Indians
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Reds scored five runs in the seventh to overcome early struggles from starting pitcher Brandon Finnegan and beat the Cleveland Indians 7-3 on Friday in a Spring Training game at the Indians park in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Reds got a two-run double from catcher Chad Wallach, an RBI triple from Desmond Jennings, and a sacrifice fly from Hernan Iribarren in the inning.
Finnegan started and went the first four innings allowing three earned runs on six hits, walked three and struck out five, His ERA this spring is now 7.94 in four starts covering 11 1/3 innings.
Wandy Peralta pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Barrett Astin also threw two scoreless innings and Lucas Luetge tossed an inning of scoreless relief.
Bronson Arroyo will make his second Spring Training start on Saturday when the Reds host the Rangers at 4:05 p.m. in Goodyear. Arroyo pitched two scoreless innings Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Catcher Devin Mesoraco is also expected back in the lineup on Saturday.
