Reds acquire pitcher from Dodgers
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Reds have claimed off waivers from the LA Dodgers RHP Luke Farrell and optioned him to AAA Louisville. The Reds designated for assignment OF/INF Scott Van Slyke, who was acquired in the deal that sent LHP Tony Cingrani to Los Angeles at the trade deadline.
Farrell in 2017 started the season at AAA Omaha. At Omaha he went 7-4, with a 4.07 ERAin 17 games (16 starts).
The Kansas City Royals recalled Farrell on July 1 for his major league debut against the Twins. He lasted only 2.2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs and was optioned back to Omaha the next day.
On July 28 K.C. sent Farrell to the Dodgers for cash and optioned him AAA Oklahoma City. He has pitched in one game at Oklahoma City, a start on Aug. 6 at Las Vegas
Farrell is an Ohio native and is the son of Red Sox Manager John Farrell.
