CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Reds conducted their first big roster purge of the spring with a flurry of moves on Wednesday. Among those was infielder Dilson Herrera, who was optioned to the minors. Acquired for Jay Bruce last season, the 23-year-old has been hampered by shoulder inflammation and has yet to play at a game at second base. As designated hitter in every game, he has still managed to hit .308 with 5 RBI and a .438 OBP. Herrera figures to open the season starting at second base for AAA-Louisville.
