Bearcat fans gear up for first look at Fickell
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - It's showtime for the U.C. Bearcats football team as they take the field for the annual spring game Friday night.
It's the first time many will get a glimpse of new head coach Luke Fickell on the field.
Fickell has been with the team since December, but it will be the first time fans will have the chance to watch him lead the team from the sidelines.
Fans are excited to see what he'll bring from his position as a defensive coordinator at Ohio State.
Fickell hit the ground running, laying out a coaching style of up-tempo play and no- excuse football.
"In this situation, everything has been positive. I think that's what you're so excited about. I want to bring positivity to everything that we do. It's a tough hard business, it's a tough, hard sport, but you have to be able to lift up, pick up and have a positive sense about everything you do," Fickell said.
Fans get into the game for free. Gates open at 5:30.
Season ticket holders who renewed by the end of March can watch from the third floor of the west pavilion.
That section is first come, first served.
There will be a fish fry, live band, and inflatables for the kids. They'll be set up on McMicken commons.
