Kentucky to face West Virginia, Huggins in Big 12-SEC Challenge

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A day after it was reported the University of Kentucky will host Virginia Tech in the 2017-18 season it will reportedly face West Virginia in the Big 12-SEC Challenge in the 2017-18 on Jan 27 in Morgantown, W. Va.

West Virginia is coached by former University of Cincinnati coach Bob Huggins.

It will be the first regular-season meeting between UK and West Virginia since 2005 and the first in Morgantown, W. Va. since Dec. 7, 1970 when UK won 106-100.

The last three times UK has played West Virginia have all been in the NCAA Tournament. UK won in 2015 Midwest Regional semifinal round, 78-39, and in the East Regional third round in 2011, 71-63. West Virginia beat UK in the East Regional final in 2010, 73-66.

UK leads the all-time series between the teams 15-5.
