CINCINNATI (WKRC) - University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari said he may retire this June if guard Hamidou Diallo is a lottery selection in the NBA Draft, which will take place on June 22 in Brooklyn.

Diallo enrolled at UK in January, but opted to sit out the rest of the season and put his name in the NBA Draft without hiring an agent in order to participate in the NBA Combine this week. He is expected to withdraw his name by the May 24 deadline and play for the Wildcats in the 2017-18 season, but he has certainly opened some eyes at the NBA Combine this week with athleticism that included a vertical leap of 44.5 inches.

Calipari was asked what he what he would do if Diallo turned out be a lottery pick if he stays in the draft and joked in response: "If he's a lottery pick I'm retiring, I'm done."

CBSSports.com national college basketball columnist Gary Parrish has Diallo being selected 24th overall if he stays in the draft, which is far from the lottery, but says he believes Diallo would be a steal at that point.

DraftExpress.com has Diallo being a second-round pick, 37th overall.

Diallo is expected to be a lottery pick next year, so there is certainly good reason for him to withdraw from this year's draft and play for UK in 2017-18, and Diallo is talking as if he's certainly looking forward to it as well. He recently made sure to tell 7-foot Mohamed Bamba that he should come to UK. Bamba is the No. 2-ranked player in the Class of 2017 and he has yet to make a college commitment.
