CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Morris Furniture Co., Inc. in Fairborn, Ohio has partnered with PNC Bank to provide new furniture to an injured Army veteran and his family.
Army Specialist Brett Bondurant was five months into his first deployment when he lost his legs in an IED blast in the Southwest Kandahar Provence, Afghanistan on September 28, 2011. He also suffered severe injuries to both arms. SPC Bondurant grew up in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and married his high school sweetheart, London.
Brett, London and their five-month old daughter, Jacee, returned to Lawrenceburg and received a newly constructed, handicapped-accessible home through the generosity of Homes for Our Troops, an organization that builds new homes for injured veterans. Construction was completed and a special dedication ceremony took place on Saturday, February 8th.
Morris and PNC Bank, along with media partners Local 12, The Enquirer and Cincinnati.com, are asking our community to help by making a donation for this family at a PNC Bank branch. Morris Furniture Co., Inc. will match every dollar raised for the Bondurant family, up to $12,500. This means $12,500 in community donations will result in $25,000 in home furnishings for this worthy soldier.
Bondurant shared on the Homes for Our Troops website, As a disabled veteran, it is hard to stay positive at times, especially since I am faced with many challenges on a daily basis, even in my own home. Having an accessible home, built to meet my specific needs will erase some of those challenges, giving me back my independence and also giving much more hope for me and for my familys future.
Morris Furniture Co., Inc. and PNC Bank have teamed up to provide furniture, mattresses and accessories for this deserving family. The furniture will be provided by the companys Morris Home Furnishings, Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Better Sleep Shop showrooms located in Springdale, Ohio.
When we heard that this family was receiving a new home and were without furniture, we knew we had to help them, said, Larry Klaben, President/CEO. Its part of our company mission to Make Homes Great, especially for a family that sacrificed so much for our country. Im happy to welcome the Bondurant family into their new home and am honored to provide these items to them.
Klaben said, "We are confident that our community will support this worthy family by donating to this campaign. We are pleased with the response we have already received from many people interested in helping this dedicated serviceman who was injured in the line of duty."
PNC Bank has established an account for the Bondurant family and is asking the community to make a donation at their local branch. Morris Furniture Co., Inc. will match the donations raised. Contributions can be made at any PNC Bank branch, or by mail to PNC Bank, 201 E Fifth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202. Checks should be made payable to: American Legion Post #239/Bondurant Fund.
