Sit Time and Heart Attack Risk

Some surprising results from a new study on exercise Monday. It has something to do with what you are probably doing right now. Sitting!

And the study results could help when it comes to lowering heart attack risk.

This new report found it is not just more exercise, but less sit time that might make the biggest difference.

The study is from the American Journal of Cardiology. Researchers in this study looked at 71,000 people. Most were women ages 50 and up. They followed them for up to 12 years.

They found some would  sit up to ten hours a day!

Those who had the most sit time had the highest risk of dying from heart disease.

It is recommended that you get up and move around at least once an hour, even if you exercise at other times of the day.

Throughout the day little activity really does add up.
