Health Alert: Sun Protection Warning

CINCINNATI, Ohio (Liz Bonis) -- Doctors fear we are not heeding the warnings to protect our skin.

That's the latest from a new study in the Journal Dermatology.  Medial reporter Liz Bonis shares details in October 4th, 2013, health alert.

It appears some of us don't get the message when it comes to the sun and skin cancer, in this study they looked at those who'd had skin cancer three years prior, and found they didn't protect any better than before this scare when it comes to the sun.

Researchers followed 20 people for three years, after they were diagnosed with skin cancer.  They found in spite of a scare, they increased their ultraviolet radiation by 25 percent, and 33 percent from the first to the third summer following.

Now they look at the hours of  sun time between ten to three .  They remind all of us that if you've had a skin cancer or a scare you may be more at risk for another one, so use sunscreen, even year round, or get it in your make up to protect whenever possible.
