Health Alert: Nordic Diet
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A diet developed by some of the best chefs in the world is helping many people drop pounds.
It's called the "Nordic Diet." And if you want to get in shape for spring, and you think you have tired every diet, well this new research shows you may want to try and eat Nordic style.
We stopped out at Madison's at Findlay Market to tell you more about this research. It is full of many of the foods you see here, mainly a plant based diet. What researchers did is they assigned 181 men and women with large waist sizes, 31 to 37 inches, to either eat this plant based Nordic style plan or eat the typical western way. The western way includes a lot more meats and cheeses.
At the end of the study those in this 10 to 12 week study, the Nordic study dropped more weight. We often think of the high protein diet as the way to eat. This study found however, just a slight shift in
the plate to more fruits and veggies could make a big difference.
The Nordic group dropped ten pounds during the 10 to 12 week study. The American style diet lost only three.
