Health Alert: Cholesterol level linked to breast cancer
CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- There is yet another reason to take a closer look at what you are eating in your own kitchen.
This study found those who have higher cholesterol levels also have a higher level of what's called 27 HC. It's a byproduct of cholesterol metabolism, and mimics estrogen to drive the growth of breast cancer cells, according to researchers at Duke University.
They want you to know the same things that bring cholesterol down like eating better, exercise, weight loss, all work against this byproduct as well. So one more reason to watch cholesterol levels and talk to your doctor about what to do if it's high.
