Health Alert: Urticario

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- If you are ready for warmth you may be saying, "I am sick of the cold!" and this report found you really can be "sick" from the cold.

We stopped out at Findlay Market Thursday to tell you more about it.  Experts at the Cleveland Clinic found those who experience this sort of cold allergy break out in hives and get skin rashes, mainly on areas exposed to the cold.

They found that the cold often causes an itchy rash, redness and swelling on these areas and it's generally when the skin is exposed for an extended amount of time.  Quite often it's noticeable when people get into cold water and you see the skin look sort of red and white or change color.

Now it can hit at any age but it tends to be most common, experts say, in the very young and in older adults.  They suggest if you start to notice these symptoms you should really try and protect skin against the cold and you may want to let your health care provider know about it.
