Health Alert: Hoxworth Mobil

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- It's taken 32 years but just a few moments ago Hoxworth Blood Centers unveiled it's new bloodmobile to the community.
Hard not to notice, at least from the outside, the contrast from the new Mobil Blood Unit.  After 32 years there is quite a difference.  A new motor, things that work, but more importantly the same mission of saving lives in our community.

Perhaps no one knows the importance of that mission more than Doreen Clark.  She met Local 12 with the Hoxworth team to take a tour of the new unit.  Her youngest son Gabriel has a rare blood disorder that requires donated blood products for treatment.

"Ten  blood donations saved my child's life.  So every donation means another day, another month, another year, and I can't really put that into words, I can't tell how thankful I am," Clark said.

She can, however, be a regular donor and give back.  The goal of this Mobil Blood Donation Center is to make that easier than ever on donors.

Dr. Ronald Sacher said, "We can go anywhere.  If we have a large enough group, that's interested in donating to our community blood source and resources, then we can go there  and bring our beautiful bus."

They will go anywhere to any site if you have a donor group that you could sign up.  Hoxworth is especially going to need donors in the summer months.  So if you can get one together call 513-5451-0910.  That's the number for donation appointments as well.
