Health Alert: Fit Cities

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- Cincinnati ranks 18th on a new fitness survey of the Top 50 Fittest Metro Areas in the United States.

Washington EC is first, Memphis is last.  Medical reporter Liz Bonis shares what we can all do to move closer to the top of the list.  This ranking each year come from the American College of Sports Medicine and they look at different ways that our city gives us access to fitness.  They look at disease rates and several other factors to figure out where cities rank or rate in the fittest cities in America.

Local 12 stopped out at the TriHealth Fitness and Health Pavilion in Montgomery to tell you more about this research  and Cincinnati's 18th ranking.  That's because people are doing here what everyone needs to be doing.  Liz Bonis talked to trainers about this and ways to improve health and maybe even move up on list.

Don Gallucci said, "Basically, select an exercise that's going to bring your heart-rate up moderately, such as walking, running, jogging.  A lot of people are doing some jogging following the Flying Pig activity and a long with that do some basic strength training."
