Bacon: the first meal on the moon
UNDATED (Bob Herzog) -- After a small step for man, and the subsequent giant leap for mankind there was... bacon.
According to a recent post on the blog Vintage Space, following a low-gravity frolic and some lunar photographs, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin convened for a meal of bacon cubes.
The popular pork dish was just part of the first scheduled meal to be eaten on the moon. That well-balanced meal also contained, peaches, sugar cookie cubes, a pineapple-grapefruit drink and coffee.
This also wasn't the first combination of bacon and outer space. During the Apollo 7 mission, astronaut Walt Cunningham said during breakfast that quote "happiness is a package of bacon squares on day ten."
