Ohio's Same Sex Ban To Be Challenged

CINCINNATI (WKRC-TV)- Ohio's ban on same sex marriage will be challenged in federal court in Cincinnati Monday, July 22.

A same sex couple is suing the state of Ohio, insisting the state recognize their marriage.

Jim Obergefell and John Arthur were married in Maryland last month.

They argue that since Ohio recognizes marriages of first cousins in other states, the state should recognize their marriage too.

Arguments in the case will be heard Monday.

This is the first challenge to Ohio's ban on same sex marriages since the Supreme Court struck down part of the Defense Of Marriage Act last month.
