Liberty Center Project Wins Approval

A mega retail projected slated for Butler County moved one step closer to reality today. Butler County officials and a big name developer signed off on a financing plan to build the new Liberty Center in Liberty Township.

The developer is Steiner and Associates, which also built the Easton Town Center in Columbus.

Local 12 News Reporter Larry Davis has more on how big of a deal this is for a key site along I-75 between Dayton and Cincinnati.

The wrecking ball will soon be demolishing these homes along Liberty Way in Liberty Township. They will make way for the new Liberty Center which is set to be the largest development ever in Butler County.
In a rare joint session, Butler County Commissioners and Liberty Township Trustees met to seal the deal on their financial contribution to the Liberty Center project.
It will cost 300 million dollars to build and officials say it will be a game changer for both Liberty Township and Butler County.

Liberty Center will be anchored by a Dillard's Department Store. There will be other retailers, including a dining and movie theater. A major hotel is also in the mix.  The developer thinks this is the right spot for a first class development.
County officials say the new Liberty Center should create an estimated 4,600 jobs, not to mention the additional temporary jobs that will come with the construction of the project.
