Three rescued from apartment fire
Some quick thinking by one man resulted in three people being rescued from a Western Hills fire.
Firefighters say flames ripped through a multi-family home on Prosperity Place near Glenway this morning.
A man driving to work played the role of hero---helping pull people to safety.
Charles McDonald says he was simply driving to work---just like he does every morning.
Suddenly he spotted smoke---he followed here to this home on Prosperity Place. There was fire shooting out of the building but he raced into action and ended up pulling some of the occupants to safety---but this rescue was also a group effort.
Heavy flames were shooting out of the windows--engulfing much of the home.
Firefighters wasted no time attacking the blaze--they were also faced with the fact that there several people inside.
Three people had to be transported to the hosptial---one man suffered burns and the others were overcome by smoke.
Now some of other men who were in the area assisted in bringing some of the other people out. But it was McDonald who was the man of the hour. He said he didn't worry about his own safety--he was concerned there were children inside and had to be rescued.
In addition to the three people rescued, a dog and some cats were also rescued as well.
