New Beds for Local Fire Stations

Everyday firefighters and emergency medical workers put themselves in dangerous situations to help others.

Colerain Township firefighters now have a more comfortable place to relax at night. A part time firefighter with the department was able to get temper-pedic mattresses donated for the entire department.

A mattress may not seem that significant to some, but firefighters say if you call 9-1-1 they want to be on top of their game when they respond.

They live, work, and eat at the firehouse for up to 48 hours straight. And very rarely do they get a full eight hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Now all five stations in the township have temper-pedic mattresses in their small cubicles. The generous donation saved Colerain Township at least $45,000.

The firefighters want to make sure that if your life is on the line, they are rested and thinking clearly enough to handle the situation. And now everyone can rest easy knowing they are resting easy too.
