Carjacked at Gun Point
A thief points a gun at an elderly woman in a parking lot and drives off with her car.
Sharonville police got two emergency calls about the same suspect around the same time. Shortly before 1:00pm Monday afternoon the man pulled a gun on a woman at an apartment complex on Sharon Park Lane. He tried to steal her car.
A short time later, police got another call for a carjacking on the same street at a dental office.
A tow truck carried a stolen Crown Victoria back to the Sharonville Police Department Monday evening. Investigators were able to find the car in West Chester only a few hours after a thief drove off in it.
Police followed a signal from the victim's cellphone.
"The victim's cellphone was in the car and we pinged it," said Lieutenant Mark Preuss of the Sharonville Police Department.
Around 1:30 Monday afternoon, dispatchers got two emergency calls roughly around the same time. A woman who witnesses say is in her nineties pulled up to a dental office on Sharon Park Lane. As she got out of her car, the suspect pulled a gun.
Another patient called 911 and said, "A customer just came into the waiting room stated that she was just robbed and her car was just stolen at gunpoint."
Police were also dispatched for an attempted carjacking at an apartment complex near the dental office. Investigators say the same man first tried to steal a black BMW from the Shadow Hill Apartments. The victim called the apartment manager for help.
A dispatcher asked the manager on the 911 recording, "Do we have any other description on the subjects involved?" The manager responded, "You know she didn't give me any description at all. She was screaming and crying."
Police believe the man eventually stole the Crown Victoria because he couldn't figure out how to drive the BMW.
"Apparently this car is a push button start and he wasn't able to successfully push the button."
The victims were not hurt.
Police say the suspect is a black man in his twenties. He was wearing camouflage pants, a black shirt with white writing on it, and a dark-colored hat.
