Big Turnout for Black Family Reunion

The Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion saw a big turnout Saturday for a parade in Avondale and events along the riverfront, downtown.

The parade kicked off at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Avondale Town Center. A number of local music and dance groups participated.

There were many activities along the riverfront, downtown, including free health screenings and a concert by the R-and-B recording artists lakeside.

The event continues all day Sunday. There will be a gospel concert from 3-6 p.m including the headlining act, Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr singers.
