Big Lots Recalls Product Erupting Liquid Fuel

Big Lots has recalled one of their tabletop torches due to fire and burn hazards.

The Citronella Tabletop Torches, once lit, can flare up and splash burning lamp oil onto surrounding people and property. They pose a threat of fire and burn hazards.

Consumers who have the product pictured should immediately stop using the torches and return them to any Big Lots for a full refund.

Big Lots can be reached toll free at 866-244-5687. Stores are open between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday.

About 30,000 units have been sold. Big Lots has received 20 reports of liquid fuel erupting from the torches with high flames according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Two incidents resulted in serious injury with second and third degree burns. Seven incidents of minor burns were reported. All reported accidents involved property damage.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is still interested in receiving incident or injury reports. Consumers can report their experiences with the product on saferproducts.gov.
