Heavy Overnight Rain Triggers Flash Flooding

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Storms with heavy downpours of rain have triggered flash flooding in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.
Some of the heaviest rain fell west of Lexington overnight, causing Puncheon Creek to rise more than 10 feet and briefly trapping a woman in her home, north of the Bluegrass Parkway.
A rescue official told WLEX-TV the woman was rescued, but the high water caused some walls to sink because the foundation was damaged.
Most of eastern Kentucky was under a flash flood watch until 8 a.m.
At dawn, another area of rain had formed in the Somerset area eastward to Corbin.
