Audio Released From Monroe Mall Shooting

We are learning more today about the events which led up to the shooting of a suspect by a Monroe police officer.
Police say 22 year-old Jamarcus Brown was shot in the leg Saturday night by Officer Chad Caudill.  Investigators Caudill fired on Brown after the suspect struck him with a vehicle.
Police have now released police communications during the incident.
Local 12 News Reporter Larry Davis has more on what transpired that night.
This all started with a security guard at the Premium Outlets Mall contacting Monroe Police about the possible theft of sunglasses from one of the stores. It ended minutes later, with the suspect being shot.

Police located a suspect thought to have stolen several pairs of sunglasses from a store. Officers say that suspect gave a false name. A short time later, the suspect took off for the parking lot and jumped in a car.
Police say Officer Caudill either got bumped or jumped on the hood of the car and fired at the suspect, hitting him in the leg.
Jamarcus Brown appeared in court earlier this week with his bond set at 75 thousand dollars, charged with obstructing official business, fleeing and eluding and assaulting a police officer.
Officer Caudill remains on paid administrative leave pending completion of the investigation.
Police say it was the first time Caudill had fired his weapon during his five years on the force.
He was named Monroe's "Police Officer of the Year" last year.
