Cincinnati Police Asking for Help Finding Violent Criminal

Police don't know where Jeffrey Portis is today but they know exactly where he was early Wednesday morning.

They say he was in Angelique Moore's Over-the-Rhine apartment committing a crime.

"Ive got knots on my forehead, a broken blood vessel in my eye.  He grabbed me by the throat so hard my feet were not even on the ground, Moore told Local 12s Joe Webb.   Moore says she used to date Portis and when he called to come over she had no idea he as running from police.  Portis was arrested July 12th for assaulting another woman.  He posted a $5-thousand bond the next day and got out of jail. Hes not returned for court.  Three days after he posted bond, Jeffery Portis  was indicted for kidnapping and assault. His bond was raised to $500-thousand. Too late to keep him locked up.  Too late for Angelique Moore.  I just feel like its senseless.  My life is at stake and I could be dead right now due to the fact this man is out on bond and they know how dangerous that he was.

Portis has a long record of violence and running from police.  The woman he assaulted on July 12th was beaten and thrown into the trunk of a car.  She was hospitalized to treat her injuries.

Thursday morning, Cincinnati Police put out an alert on Jeffery Portis.  They are asking for the publics help.

Tips are what were looking for.  That will help us put together the puzzle of where he is and where we can apprehend this individual, Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Saunders told Local 12.  The safest thing to him, and Id say this to Mr. Portis is Turn yourself in and do it now.

Angelique Moore is hoping that happens today. Im scared to go home. Im bouncing from place hoping to dodge him.  Ive got to walk around looking over my shoulder.

Police say Jeffery Portis is likely armed and he is dangerous.  They are asking that anyone who has information about his whereabouts should call CrimeStoppers at 513.352.3040.
