Back To School Shopping Online

If you walk in any store around town, you'll probably see signs promoting back to school shopping. But this season is also very busy for sales online.

Local 12's Tiffany Wilson takes us inside amazon dot-com's fulfillment center in Hebron.
Eight football fields, that's the amount of space inside the Hebron fulfillment center.  Incredibly, this warehouse is on the small side for amazon. Now that kids are heading back to school, the conveyor belts are moving at high speed.

Julie Law, Amazon.com:
"Customers are shopping back to school more and more online. It's now our second busiest season of the year after Christmas, obviously."

Since it began selling books in 1995, amazon has perfected the art of streamlined shipping. Now, the company streamlines your shopping experience as well.

"In our back to school store at amazon, you can shop by grade, so you can find things for your elementary student...into college."

Julie Law says this system reduces the strain of taking kids to the store.

"As a mom, I want to eliminate stress, save some sanity, and save some money."

"If you're looking for back to school deals, amazon says they're offering major discountsUp to 60 percent off basics, 25 off technology and 40 percent off backpacks and apparel."

"Easily, the number one selling item around the country and in Ohio is the kindle."

However, if there's a tough to find item on your child's list, odds are this warehouse has it in stock. More than a million unique items line the shelves.

"We don't want you spending more than you need to and we want you to get those items as quickly as possible so you can send your kids off to school and feel like they can succeed."

For the thousand local workers, the increase in orders offers job security.  The company says Hebron is so critical to its operation, about 200 more full time positions will be added this year.
