New Cincinnati Police Chief to Be Introduced Tuesday

CINCINNATI -- (WKRC Allison Pfeffer)

Mayor Mark Mallory and City Manager Milton Dohoney, Jr. will present Jeffrey Blackwell as the city's new chief of police Tuesday afternoon.

Blackwell has served as Deputy Chief of police in Columbus. The city says Blackwell has been commended for his outreach to young people and immigrant populations, as well as reducing crime and operating costs.

However, our sister station in Columubus, WSYX, reported the Pentagon is investigating a program headed by Blackwell which overseas military equipment donated to the Columbus police. The allegation is that some of it may have been sold for scrap.

Blackwell will oversee Cincinnati's 1,300 staff members. The formal introduction is set for 2:30 at Cincinnati City Hall.
