Ravens QB Flacco Misses Son's Birth for Browns Game
BALTIMORE (CBS) -- Joe Flacco did something Sunday that will generate plenty of discussion, as the Ravens quarterback started Sunday's game against the Browns despite his wife giving birth his son on Sunday morning.
The Ravens tweeted at 12:29 p.m. ET that Flacco's wife gave birth to their second child about "30 minutes ago" and noted that Flacco would start.
We assume, then, that Flacco wasn't present for the birth of his second child since he likely had to be at the stadium warming up for Sunday's home opener against Cleveland.
And we found out shortly after that it was a boy -- their second son -- that the Flacco's welcomed into the world.
Expect to hear plenty of rabble-rabble type argument over whether or not Flacco did the right thing by skipping the birth of his child.
There's arguments for both sides really. Flacco plays the Browns twice a year so it's not like it's as rare as childbirth.
But he does have one child already and it's possible his wife told him to go do his job and was legitimately OK with that. No clue if that's the case (Mrs. Brinson probably wouldn't be down with me leaving the hospital for the NFL, but I don't actually play football) but it sure does seem logical.
Either way there will probably be a bunch of Judgmental Judys wagging fingers at Flacco for being a bad family man. The reality is he wouldn't have made this decision if his family wasn't OK with it.
