BMI Report Cards?

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has upset countless parents and children by requiring public schools to calculate the BMI, or body mass index, of their students and to send a letter home if that number is too high.

Parents are angry over "the government interference in parenting and invasion of privacy," while some kids feel bullied by the "fat letters," as they've been called.

One legislator has finally had enough. State Rep. Jim Lyons hopes to amend the law to keep the department from forcing schoolkids onto scales.
