Crews Declare an Emergency Battling House Fire

Cincinnati (WKRC) - Fire crews rushed to save a home on Van Buren Street in Lincoln Heights but once on scene crews had to rush to save one of their own.

The fire was called in just after 10:00 P.M. Wednesday night.  Crews quickly worked to get the fire under control sending some crews up on the roof.

That is where one firefighter partially fell through the roof.  Firefighters on scene quickly rushed to free the stuck firefighter.

Crews at Local 12 could hear the firefighter stuck in the roof calmly transmit his distress call over the radio.

After a few minutes crews were able free him.  A fire official on the scene said the firefighter was not badly injured. He was treated on the scene and did not have to go to the hospital.

An adult and two teenagers who live in the home were displaced by the fire. They were receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Investigators say a stove started the fire. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
