Speed Limits Set To Rise

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKRC) -- Speed limits on certain sections of US routes and Ohio routes will increase Sunday.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says speed limits on 607 miles of roadway are going up as a result of legislation the Ohio General Assembly approved earlier this year.

It increases speeds on roadways outside heavily populated areas.  Some divided highways move to 60 miles per hour, expressways without traffic signals to 65 miles per hour, and freeways to 70 miles per hour.

The changes require O-DOT to make 1,100 new highway speed limit signs at a cost of almost 115,000 dollars.
